    Tony is passionate about leadership coaching and draws on his broad experience in professional sports to deliver highly engaging training sessions. As an EH&S Consultant, he works with his clients to empower successful safety cultures by employing a coaching approach with their teams. Tony blends his construction expertise and experience with his background as a multi-sport, nationally ranked athlete and 15 years working as a professional, high-performance coach. This unique combination results in training that takes the most up-to-date leadership theories and practices and boils them down to the essentials so that you and your crew can walk away from a course ready to implement your new skills on site.

    With a passion for understanding the systems around us and working collaboratively on community-centred solutions, Tori believes in people and the power of shifting perspectives and objectives to create monumental change. As Director of Education and Communications at Buy Social Canada, she spearheads engagement and works across the social procurement ecosystem. She sits on the Stronger Together Solidarity Working Group to help bring inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility to the social innovation sector. Currently, she is the Project Manager for Wood Buffalo Social Procurement Implementation, the Peterborough Social Procurement Project, the lead for Buy Social Canada’s Social Procurement Supplier Readiness (SUPER) training program and Education and Training Coordinator for the British Columbia Social Procurement Initiative.

  • Troy DeGroot

    As a Bluebeam Certified Consultant, Bluebeam Certified Instructor, and Implementation Specialist, Troy travels the country training over 2,000 students annually with customized tools and workflows. It is these extensive and diverse training opportunities that have led to Troy being a requested annual presenter at AIA meetings, Bluebeam Academy and Bluebeam’s very own eXtreme Conference (XCON).

    With over 20 years in the industry, Troy has cultivated a deep understanding of the requirements of customers, the needs of end users, common goals of management, and the capacities of the technology. He has led many companies through successful software implementations and training. Having served as the BIM Manager for a large multi-discipline engineering firm, he provides a broad understanding of the industry and the evolution of technology.

  • Tyler Galbraith, LL.B

    With over 14 years of experience, Tyler practices in the area of commercial litigation with a focus on construction disputes. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia and has been involved in several appeals, trials, arbitrations, and mediations. He has acted in numerous builders lien and tender cases, disputes arising from delays, defective work, contract termination, bond claims and insurance coverage. Tyler is a member of a variety of construction and legal associations and has lectured for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia on construction related matters. He is the author of numerous construction law articles and other publications, with a focus on tender and builders liens issues.

  • Walter Strachan, RSW, PQS (F), CSC (F)

    With 40+ years’ experience in the consulting engineering industry, Walter has worked in multiple roles, serving as department manager, project manager, corporate quality manager (ISO 9001), corporate risk manager, principal, director, and Chair of the Board at a major Atlantic Canada based engineering and environmental services company. Upon retirement from CBCL Limited, Walter opened Act 3 Advisory Services to continue a life-long obsession with all things related to project delivery in the design and construction industry.

    Walter’s design and construction interest center around standard practices, project delivery methods, cost planning and control, risk management, and dispute resolution. These interests resulted in tenures as Chair, Canadian Design Build Institute (CDBI); President, Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS); Chair, Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC); and Board Member, Canadian Construction Association (CCA).He has also served on several significant Task Teams including MasterFormat; CSC/CSI Uniform Drawing Systems; and the Integrated Delivery (IPD) Task Team.

    Walter is the 2021 recipient of the Nova Scotia Consulting Engineers (CENS) Distinguished Service Award.

  • Wayne Newell

    For the past 35 years, Wayne has served in senior financial leadership roles and worked with contractors of all sizes throughout Canada, the United States and the Caribbean. Wayne earned his Certified Management Accountant (CMA now CPA) designation in 1972. Since then, no matter the size of the company, he has shown owners, managers and employees how to best perform, lead, and follow; all the while saving money and time. Wayne was elected a life member of the Kinsmen Association for outstanding efforts and leadership in a volunteer role, having served as a Governor and leading 18 executives responsible for 96 clubs and 2700 members. For the last 18 years Wayne has been focused on sharing his wealth of knowledge through training and has presented his Construction Management courses to over 3,400 construction professionals from St. John’s to Victoria.
