VICA Committees

Vancouver Island Construction Association Committees are an important part of the Board of Directors‘ function and responsibilities. They are established to assist the Board in the Association’s goals, objectives, and ultimately, its mission. 

General Contractors Council

To address issues relevant to General Contractors. The council, with the assistance of staff, provides information and makes recommendations to the board of directors.

Meetings: Min. twice per year or at the call of the Chair.

Trade Contractors Council

To address issues relevant to Trade Contractors. The council, with the assistance of staff, provides information and makes recommendations to the board of directors.

Civil Contractors Council

The Vancouver Island Construction Association supports and promotes the principles of fair, open, and transparent procurement processes. The VICA Standard & Practices Committee supports and promotes recognized best practices from a regional perspective, to be a resource to staff, make recommendations to the VICA Board of Directors, and may facilitate discussions between organizations in the construction community. 

Meetings: Min. twice per year or at the call of the Chair.
Chair: Scott Torry (AFC Construction) *on leave

Standard & Practices Committee

The Vancouver Island Construction Association supports and promotes the principles of fair, open, and transparent procurement processes. Under 40 & Young Builders Network

Mandate: To develop a young executive’s network in order to provide an atmosphere of networking to build relationships within the construction community and to support and promote careers in the industry. The networks also serve to present information, professional development, and leadership or mentorship opportunities that will benefit the individual U40/YBN members and their respective companies. Members are encouraged to participate in community engagement initiatives throughout the year.

Young Builders Network: Meet once per month unless planning a major event.

Women in Construction (WiC) Network

Women in Construction (WiC) is a grassroots Vancouver Island organization working to increase female participation in one of the key sectors of our provincial economy: construction. Membership is open to all who support women working in construction and who are passionate about the industry. Both Chapters of WiC are supported by the Vancouver Island Construction Association.

Victoria WiC: Once per month unless planning a major event.
