By the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Calculate Load Weights: Accurately determine the weight of various materials (steel, concrete, wood) using industry-standard formulas.
- Identify Center of Gravity (COG): Locate the COG to ensure load stability.
- Sling Selection & Angles: Select the correct sling type (wire rope, synthetic, chain) and calculate the tension increase caused by various sling angles.
- Master Hitches: Properly execute vertical, choker, and basket hitches.
- Perform Rigging Inspections: Apply rejection criteria for hardware (shackles, hooks, eyebolts) and slings based on wear, deformation, or damage.
- Standardized Communication: Demonstrate proficiency in hand signals and radio protocols.
- Advanced Knots: Tie and apply the Clove Hitch, Bowline, and Sheet Bend.
- Lift Planning: Develop and execute a formal lift plan, including site assessments and hazard identification.
- Assessment Standards: To pass, candidates must achieve 7/10 on Load Weight Calculations, 15/15 on Hand Signals, and 100% accuracy on safety rigging selections.
