Enhance your estimating knowledge and learn the essentials of electrical estimation in construction. Course topics include job costing, site evaluation, risk and competitor analysis, bid strategy and much more!
*Please note that the first 8 hours of course content is duplicated from the Construction Estimating course. Students who have previously attended Construction Estimating should be aware that you will receive repeat content.

- Assemble efficient crews and determine productivity

- Use essential formats for clearly estimating equipment, labor, material and other service costs related to completing a project

- Analyze potential projects and decide on which ones to bid
- Understand risk analysis and how to price this into a bid

- Record material and other prices and maintain contact lists
- Formulate a bid strategy
- Understand how to prepare an estimate and the estimating process

Who Should Attend?
Electrical Estimating is designed for current construction estimators, as well as those with moderate construction industry experience who would like to learn more about the electrical estimating process or want to be an estimator.
Course Format
Live, Online, Instructor-led training. This is a webinar/lecture-style workshop with a class size up to 25 students.
- This course is facilitated by the instructor on the Zoom platform. Access information from the instructor will be provided to you in advance of the training.
- You will be expected to have your webcam on during the class and participate in group discussions and other activities with your instructor and classmates during the course.
This course is delivered in partnership with local construction associations. You will be participating with a cohort of industry peers from across Canada.

This course requires full face-to-face interaction and participation from both the instructor and students. In order to attend, you’ll must make sure you have the following:
- Computer or laptop with webcam (webcams are mandatory): This course will involve 100% on-screen interaction with your instructor and classmates, reading/viewing on-screen content like slides or videos, and interacting via typing with questions or responses. For this reason, you must have a webcam and use a full computer/laptop, and we do not permit students to attend using a tablet or cell phone.
- A quiet space with minimal distractions: Please plan to be fully engaged in the class, and clear your work schedule just as you would for attendance in an in-class program.
Homework Requirements
Optional Assignment (for additional Gold Seal credit):
An optional assignment will be available to complete after the in-class course for students seeking additional Gold Seal credits. This online component is administrated by the instructor and will be provided and explained to students by the instructor in-class. It will be based on the in-class material and may include some research, reading, and answering questions (7-8 hours) that will be marked by the instructor.
Recommended Prerequisites
We recommend that students have some experience in a role assisting an estimator or experience working in a construction company and familiarity with estimating terminology and processes.
Those with less experience are welcome to attend but may find it hard to absorb and appreciate the material without prior experience or context.
