The Builders Code sets a standard code of conduct for workers on construction sites. It defines an ‘Acceptable Worksite’ as the starting point for reducing risk and ensuring a safe and productive environment for all workers. The Builders Code is intended to help construction employers communicate a reasonable, consistent behaviour expectation to improve the safety, productivity and retention of skilled tradespeople, and reduce project risk.

This course will support you in effectively leading your construction crew in an inclusive and respectful worksite culture. Shaping positive worksite behaviour (both in yourself and others) is one of the most important and powerful responsibilities that construction leaders have.

Learn how to lead with emotional intelligence and have hard conversations. You’ll walk through how to address various worksite scenarios, and gain tools for managing your crew in a way that attracts people to your team and retains them longer. For forepersons, superintendents, union business managers, and other site leaders.

By the end of this course, you will:

• Learn how to identify and manage negative behaviours in your crew before they escalate
• Learn how to respond to incidences of bias and discrimination
• Learn how to support forepersons, site supers, union business managers, and other site leaders in fulfilling their responsibility to ensure a psychologically safe worksite and retain valuable workers
• Reduce incidences of discrimination and bias on site due to age, gender, race, ethnicity, risk tolerance (COVID-19) and other factors that are unrelated to work performance
• Learn how to use the free Builders Code resources to support your efforts
