BIM made easy! Join us for this introductory course that covers the fundamentals of Building Information Modelling (BIM). Using practical examples from real project case studies, this course will teach you what works when using BIM – and just as importantly, what doesn’t work when BIM is used incorrectly.
Gain insights into the business benefits of BIM and critical factors for successful project implementation. Course content also includes an introduction to the ISO 19650 suite and other working standards and specifications. You’ll learn what ISO 19650 is and why it is important to use this standard along with how to extract the most relevant parts based on roles and projects.

Course Format
- This workshop is hosted by the instructor on their virtual learning platform. Access information and any course materials will be provided to you by the instructor via email in advance of the training.
- Full attendance and participation in all scheduled sessions is mandatory for course completion. If a student misses a class session, we are unable to transfer registration or provide a partial refund of the registration fees.
- This course is delivered in partnership with the VRCA. You will be participating with a cohort of industry peers from both regions.
Course Requirements (Technology & Participation)
In order to attend, you’ll must make sure you have the following:
- Computer or laptop with webcam: This course will involve on-screen interaction with your instructor and classmates, reading/viewing on-screen content like slides or videos, and interacting via typing with questions or responses. For this reason, you must have a full computer/laptop, and we do not permit students to attend using a tablet or cell phone.
- A quiet space with minimal distractions: Please plan to be fully engaged in the class, and clear your work schedule just as you would for attendance in an in-class program.
Recommended Prerequisites
There are no mandatory prerequisites for this training, however we recommend students have some experience working in or familiarity with construction management.
Those with less or no knowledge or experience are welcome to attend but may find it hard to absorb and appreciate the material without prior experience or context.
