Nanaimo Correctional Centre Business-To-Business Networking Session

The Province of B.C. announced moving forward with the replacement of the Nanaimo Correctional Centre (NCC) with a modern, progressive facility that rethinks and reshapes the design of progressive rehabilitation environments within the British Columbia correctional system.

The new 202-cell NCC will include secure, medium and open custody living units for men, a secure living unit for women, administration areas for programming and staff services, as well as support spaces such as food services, health care, laundry and admissions and discharge.

Due to the strong interest in this project from the local business community, VICA and Partnerships BC are pleased to invite local contractors and business and service providers to a Business-to-Business Networking Session. This event is an opportunity for businesses to meet with representatives of each of three proponent teams to promote their companies and services in support of the design and construction of the new NCC.

FORMAT

  • To ensure everyone has the opportunity to meet with each of the three proponent teams, the session will be organized whereby participants will have equal time with each team (approximately 3 – 5 minutes, to be confirmed) to promote their companies, services and experience. 
  • There will be no presentation from the project team or proponents and the 2-hour timeslot will be coordinated in an open house format, to ensure participants the opportunity to attend at any time during the session.

Each registrant may be represented by a maximum of two representatives.

PROJECT DETAILS

The replacement of the Nanaimo Correctional Centre will be a purpose-built facility that enhances safety, security, and space to continue successful programs. Site clearing for the new centre begins this summer and BC Corrections expects it will be operational by spring 2023.
