City of NanaimoThis is not a tender call or an invitation to bid.

The City of Nanaimo (the City) plans to commence procurement for construction of a new fire station located at the intersection of Fitzwilliam Street and Milton Street in Nanaimo.

You are invited to attend an optional Project Information Session regarding the project and upcoming tender on November 21, 2019 at Vancouver Island Conference Centre at 101 Gordon Street, Nanaimo, BC from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM noon, followed by an opportunity to visit the site.

The Information Session will include a presentation of the scope of the project including each of the key design disciplines as well as an overview of the budget and schedule, and an opportunity to network with your industry peers.

Fire Station #1
The building has been conceived as a modern, fit for purpose facility to replace and consolidate existing facilities in the area.

The new 2,100 m2 facility will be built adjacent to the existing Fire Station #1 which currently houses Fire & Rescue Command and Fire Dispatch, and will also accommodate Office Administration and a new Emergency Coordination Centre.

The upcoming tender includes demolition of the existing Fire Station #1, following construction of the new facility, and will be procured as a stipulated price contract, with occupancy targeted mid 2022.

The success of this project depends to a large degree on engagement with the construction industry, and it’s for this reason that we are providing the market with this advance information.

We encourage you to consider pursuing this exciting opportunity and to start thinking about developing your construction team. To help you with this, we welcome your attendance at the project information session, which is open to all General Contractors, Sub-Contractors and Suppliers.
