Message from the CEO
On August 2, 2011 three island based construction associations amalgamated under the Vancouver Island Construction Association banner and vision tag line “one market, one association, one voice”.
The needs of the suppliers and vendors of construction services on Vancouver Island have evolved over time and it is this evolution that drove the construction association amalgamation and vision tag line.
In their merger deliberations the three island associations Board of Directors were committed to the guiding principles of members first, leadership and representation. Commitment to these principles combined with the vision of one association for the construction industry on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands lead to unanimous decisions by the Board of Directors of the associations.
The amalgamation and one association model has paved the way for enhanced member services, benefits and representation, as well as services to the boarder construction community such as design professionals and the purchasers of construction services.
Serving the design professionals and purchasers of construction services is central to VICA’s purpose. To this end we will exchange ideas, knowledge and expertise with the professional, consulting and owner community, and build on our reputation of being a valued resource to them in procuring and contracting for construction services. We have experienced strong membership growth from this community so it is clear there are a mutual interests and benefits in working together, and in membership.
The future is full of promise and opportunity for a new and stronger association and our members. 2011 will go down in the history books as a milestone year for the island constructions associations and only add to our hundred year anniversary celebrations next year! I invite you to join us!
